Rethink Design Studio

One place I'm dying to go is Tybee Island. To be honest, it's the whimsical beach cottages that I want to see most! This fabulous one designed by Joel and Erika Snayd of Rethink Design Studio out of Savannah, Georgia is totally style! I love how light and bright it is, with a great mix of vintage and modern pieces, and pops of colors layered over all the fresh white canvas. The breezy bedrooms are just so pretty too! I know there's not a ton of turquoise, but a little bit goes a long way! You do not want to miss out on the awesome upstairs of the home, so for lots more great photos taken by Richard Johnson, head right here! This delightful home photographed by Helene Toresdotter has so much spirit, I love it! Located in Sweden, the 4-story home overlooking the sea was built in 1916, but the owner André Waldhör spent three years renovating the space. It's obvious he considered the history of the home, it has so much historical charm! And get this...all the furniture in the home was bought used or found in a landfill! I have to say though my favorite part is the Josef Frank wallcoverings (Vårklockor and Eldblomma), and of course all the turquoise trim! You can see even more photos of the home over at Hus & Hem!

Andra Birkerts Interior Design

You don't know how tempting it is to just pick up and move to the East Coast!! This coastal Rockport, Massachusetts summer home with interior design by Andra Birkerts is stuff my dreams are made of. The home feels like it has been around for a while, but it's actually newly built by S&H Construction with design by Charles Myer and Partners. Isn't that bunkroom incredible?? It sleeps 10 kids!! All of the pretty painted floors are my favorite feature of the home though! You can read all about the breezy home over at Design New England!

Much more versatile than you may think, blue is truly a classic color. It has universal appeal, never goes out of style, and is overwhelmingly chosen as a color favorite across North America. It evokes the sea and sky, physically calms us, and symbolizes trust and commitment.

Because of the influence that blue has in our world today, we have chosen Wythe Blue (HC-143) as Benjamin Moore's 2012 Color of the Year. It's a beautiful, calming hue that has an element of heritage and offers grounding rootedness, providing comfort and stability.

Lets hear it for Wythe Blue! I've long loved the color (see my other post here) and I know that a lot of you have used it (and love it!) in your own homes, so I was excited to read the news from the paint experts over at Hirshfield's Color Club. They shared the 2012 trend colors in a bunch of great room sets...it's crazy how much paint can change the look of a room! Needless to say, I couldn't agree more with Benjamin Moore's choice for Color of the Year. I am also loving their inspiring Earth & Sky color palette that incorporates the color so beautifully! Who is ready to do some painting?!

Just Beachy Bunkie

If there's one person who accomplished a heck of a lot this summer (August, where did you go?!), it's Chris of Just Beachy. All summer long she has been working hard building this adorable backyard bunkie. It's been so fun watching the progress unfold on her blog, and I have to say the end results are even more darling than I imagined! I can't even handle those floors...they are so stinkin' perfect. She used cottage pine wood flooring from Home Depot and painted them using high gloss latex floor porch paint in a cheery Jamaican Bay by Behr. And I just adore her hand-painted beach sign made from roof scraps. So cute! You can see more photos and read all about her project right here!
