Dayley Design
Where does the gushing begin?! This lovely home belongs to Dayme Walther of Dayley Design, an interior design and events company out of Dallas, Texas. With a true passion for our favorite color, Dayme incorporated turquoise in every room of her home, photographed here by Paige Walker. She and her husband just finished a 6 month-long renovation of their home. Actually her father did the entire renovation! He moved in with them as they took the bathroom, kitchen and laundry room down to the studs. He even laid all the hardwood floors in their entire house!! What a great dad!!! Phoebe Howard
I am back from my vacation down South–rejuvenated from the beach and inspired by all that I saw! I took so many photos, but I need to get them on the computer and organized before I can share some with y'all!
One of the last places we stopped on our trip was Phoebe Howard's store in Atlanta. I'm a die-hard fan of her work, so it was a must-see while I was in the area. I can't wait to share with you some photos! Until then, I thought you'd adore this recent client project from her website. The look is so beautiful and elegant, but inviting and comfortable too! And talk about serene–the colors here are amazing! All of the light flowing in those fab windows certainly doesn't hurt either! You don't want to miss out on the rest of this incredible home, so head here to see lots more!
And if you don't already own Phoebe's book The Joy of Decorating, I highly recommend it! It's one of my favorites!!

Guest Blogger: Camille from The Vintique Object
Hello, Turquoise Lovers. I'm Camille from The Vintique Object. I'm thrilled to pieces to be guest posting for Erin today because House of Turquoise was the first design blog I ever visited! That is a true story and let me tell you, I was entranced!
In addition to my own design blog, I've recently started a little decorating/organizing business. I am excited to share a recent project -- a little girls' bedroom belonging to six year-old twins.
Down came the dated 80's wallpaper and the room was professionally painted. You can just see a peek of Benjamin Moore's Palladian Blue on the ceiling. I added a bit of turquoise paint to the Palladian Blue to to make a custom mix for the vintage beds, which were an unsightly electric blue color when I found them.
Believe it or not, these ring pulls made from hardware store parts! Total cost for each runs about $1.40. I have to thank Sarah M. Dorsey Designs for coming up with this brilliant idea. I just tweaked the idea a bit to keep the pulls from snagging clothes on the inside of the drawer.
On the wall where the dressers were located, I made small vanities/desks flanking a bookcase I snagged from the garage. Above each desk is pegboard painted to mimic the bedding. The pegboard helps the girls to organize their jewelry and and hair accessories.
My goal was to create a fresh, light-filled, and organized space -- not too girly and one that can grow with them. I think turquoise fits the bill for that exactly!

Behind each bed is a giant bulletin board made from homasote or sound board and covered in burlap and ribbon. The little girls are avid decorators (see stickers below) and this was a good way for them to showcase their artwork and put up posters without ruining the walls with tape, push-pins...and stickers.
I also painted one of their Ikea Malm dressers (removing stickers first) to match the other and added DIY brass ring pulls to dress them up a bit.

Guest Blogger: Jen from The Project Girl
This is Jen Allyson from The Project Girl, I am so excited to be guest blogging here at House of Turquoise. This is such an inspirational blog and I can't believe that my laundry room is now part of it!
My Husband, whom I refer to as "Mr. Project" has been fulfilling all my dreams this past year as he completely gutted and renovated our new home. We've completed so many projects like our Guest Bathroom, Master Bathroom, and biggest of all our Kitchen.
Our most recent project is my new shiny laundry room. When Mr. Project suggested we paint the cabinets blue, I was giddy with anticipation of my new turquoise laundry room. And the final product was even better than I could have imagined.
Our house is 35 years old, and this is the dingy and boring laundry room that we started out with. The floor is kind of charming with the retro hexagons, but the cabinets were cheap and outdated and the whole room just felt dark.
During the main overhaul renovation, we had the walls smoothed and painted SW Sea Salt as well as all the trim and casings updated. But after a year we were itching to gut it too and make a beautiful room.
Once everything was installed, he painted the cabinets KM Acapulco Aqua, the backsplash SW Duck White, and stained the alder countertop Minwax Jacobean. It was so much fun to see the space start to come together!

Now if that's not a HUGE transformation, I don't know what is. I know most people might have just painted the old cabinets and put on shiny new hardware, but I'm super lucky because Mr. Project has a wood shop and can build cabinets from scratch.
So knowing that the sky was the limit, I made a plan for my husband to start with. I decided on some open shelving to keep the space airy, added space for a sink, and then optimized the remaining space for storage and a big rolling hamper cart.
I also knew that I wanted a white marble floor in a herringbone pattern. So we found some affordable marble tile at Home Depot and had our tile guy go for it. It turned out absolutely stunning, and I wish the photos did it justice! Here's a quick close-up:
While the floor was being installed, Mr. Project built the new cabinets, doors, and countertops, and then once the floor was done, he expertly installed them all including the shelving and drawers. And when that was done he installed wood planking behind the shelves and as a backsplash.
Once everything was installed, he painted the cabinets KM Acapulco Aqua, the backsplash SW Duck White, and stained the alder countertop Minwax Jacobean. It was so much fun to see the space start to come together!
The last part was to hang the painted doors and install the lovely Strand pulls and knobs from Restoration Hardware.
I added some accessories, and our laundry room renovation was complete!
I absolutely adore this room, The turquoise is just the right shade - not to bright, not to dull, and it makes the space such a fun place to be - which is exactly what you want out of a laundry room!
And to spice up the other side of the room we added a board & batten wall, and I'm going to frame some papers that I designed:

Guest Blogger: Kelly with Kandrac & Kole Interior Designs
Hi! I'm Kelly Kole with Kandrac & Kole Interior Designs. We are big fans of Erin and equally obsessed with the mesmerizing color of Turquoise so it is our pleasure to be guest blogging today!
Two years ago, I redesigned my family room (this just shows you the staying power of Turquoise!). I've been dying to share this special room with House of Turquoise readers.
The inspiration for my design was this whimsical houndstooth fabric from Wesley Hall.
When I was creating the fabric palette, I instantly started to drool over this turquoise velvet. This velvet now adorns what is affectionately called "Mommy's chair" - i.e. if you're sitting there, and I come along, you better get up!
Next I fell in love with these lamps from The Natural Light Company's custom color ceramic program. Turquoise, linen and lucite = yummy! (Plus they are really tall and are 3-way which is key for me!)
Then.... drumroll please... the pièce de résistance as they say - an original piece of art by Atlanta artist Kim Schuessler called Ring Around the Rosies. Besides the fact that this particular piece reminded me of myself and my two (blonde) daughters, the little turquoise bird was the clincher! What are the chances (well, great actually cuz everybody loves turquoise!).
It's the little touches that always make a difference - right? Like the delicate turquoise coaster my glass of Pinot Grigio must sit on every night.
This is a room our entire family genuinely enjoys. The nice thing about turquoise is that it is a hue that can be infused into an existing space - especially when it's simply used as careful pops of joy!

Guest Blogger: Kristie from The Decorologist
Hi all! I'm Kristie Barnett, also known as The Decorologist. My design blog is all about teaching and inspiring regular people about decorating, choosing color, and creating a home that makes their heart sing. Erin was so kind to invite me to share a home I recently designed for a client here in Nashville, TN.
My client has a heart for anything shabby, chippy, and related to the seashore. Her flea market finds just weren't gelling with her traditional suburban home, so she called me in to help pull it all together. And it's clear that her favorite color is TURQUOISE! Shall we start in the entry?
The dining room leads into the living room. We used lots of washable slipcovers and tons of paint to make-over this room to feel like a coastal get-away in the heart of a traditional suburban neighborhood.

The most fabulous thing about this room is the transformation of the fireplace - you can check out how we took it from an orangey-brown 1980's eyesore to a beautiful focal point here.

This is my client's bedroom. Finding the *perfect* lighting for this home was probably the most difficult part of the project, with this room's fixtures being the last to procure. The chandelier and matching wall sconces were found at the the ever-popular Nashville Flea Market, while the lamps were made from old columns and muslin slipcovers over old salvaged lampshade frames.
