Chris Mead + English Country Antiques

Pretty sure you'd believe me if I said the owners of this home were antique dealers in the Hamptons. But what if I told you that Chris Mead and Zoe Hoare's 1748 Sagaponack, New York saltbox cottage was built from a salvaged boat? That's right! Imagine the stories this home could tell! Nothing in the home is straight, plumb, or level, but it is certainly filled with charm! I'm seriously in love with all of their incredible collections. The key here is definitely grouping the like with the like. Makes such a statement! So much of what you see was outfitted from Chris' shop English Country Antiques...safe bet I'll be visiting it next time I'm in Bridgehampton! Oh and get this, I found here that you can even rent out this adorable cottage–although we might all have to chip in! For lots more images taken by Tim Street-Porter, read the article over at Country Living!

Structures Building Company

Sweet southern charm! Structures Building Company, a custom home builder out of Charleston, South Carolina, has an online portfolio entirely worth drooling over. I mean, did you see that first image? That exterior?! How easy it to imagine sitting out on one of those porches, cooled off by the fans and an iced tea! You just don't see that sort of thing up here in Minnesota and I love it. Just like I love all the interiors! So fresh and relaxed, but totally elegant. And don't get me started on that porch with the fireplace and blue ceiling! What a dream! Check out more fabulous spaces by this award-winning builder right on over here!

The Glamorous Housewife Bethany Herwegh

There's so much love and life in this Manhattan Beach bungalow photographed by Victoria Pearson featured in the new Country Living. The home was designed by architect Lewin Wertheimer and brought to life by the homeowners Chip and Bethany Herwegh. (He's a prop-maker, she's a costume designer–how cool is that?) You might know Bethany from her delightful blog The Glamorous Housewife. She's been a faithful reader of mine for many years, and I'm truly honored to know she frequently referred to my blog when decorating their fabulous home. The turquoise hutch may be my favorite thing here...I love the mirrored glass! The kids rooms are super fun too. I love all the thoughtful details...you know they are having a blast there! You can read more about the home (including fun behind-the-scenes tidbits) over at The Glamourous Housewife! And for sources for almost everything in her home, visit Bethany's Pinterest page!

Happy Memorial Day!

I'm just quick popping in to say Happy Memorial Day with this photo by Gordon Beall! I hope you're all enjoying the day! Of course I am excited to welcome in the summer, but I also want to pay tribute to all men and women who have died in military service for the United States. Who knows where we'd be without them.

Hillary Thomas + Jeff Lincoln

I'm sure you guys have all drooled over this Washington, D.C. town house designed by Hillary Thomas and Jeff Lincoln from the May issue of House Beautiful, but they were so "House of Turquoise", of course I have to share them here too! Where do I even begin?! How about the kitchen with the patterned tile from Ann Sacks! Those fab tiles actually influenced the palette throughout the rest of the house. And let me tell you, I cannot stop drooling over that living room! Those to-die-for turquoise chairs are INCREDIBLE! You can see lots more great photos by Eric Piasecki and read all about the home right here!

Now the time you've been waiting for...who is the winner of the incredible Pine Cone Hill giveaway?!
Yay! So much fun! And talk about fun, I just got home from New York, having spent an amazing week at Blogfest! So much inspiration, so many good times, I have never felt so exhausted in my life!! I can't wait to tell you some of my favorite moments and share some pics. Before then, some serious relaxation is needed. I am so happy it's a holiday weekend! I hope you all have a great Memorial Day! Enjoy every minute!!!

Guest Blogger: Alexandra from Destinations Perfected

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, marking 60 years of her reign, will be celebrated in England over a four-day weekend from June 2-5. For Brits (and Londoners, like myself), this is one of the biggest events of the year. London city streets are already lined with British flags, store windows are showing their patriotic red, white and blue union jack colors, and neighborhoods are busy planning block-long street parties.

So what is the most famous British tradition you can think of? Afternoon tea! I recently toured the newly refurbished Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon at the famous department store Fortnum & Mason in Piccadilly. The room is filled with beautiful sea foam green and tiffany blue colors (just what we love at House of Turquoise) and was created by the world famous interior designer David Collins. Designed to imitate a Georgian drawing room with subtle architectural reminders of Fortnum’s early days in the 1700s, the tea salon was opened by HM the Queen accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses the Duchess of Cornwall (Camilla Parker Bowles) and the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton).

Here at my own blog, Destinations Perfected, I am eating, sleeping and shopping my way through the most fabulous travel destinations in the world and reporting it all back to you. Come join me!
