Vujovich Design Build

This beautiful home built by Vujovich Design Build is located here in Minneapolis and actually belongs to one of my readers! Since building the home last summer, Paula has become obsessed with turquoise and used it as the accent color throughout her new home. I was delighted to learn that my blog was a big inspiration in her decorating, and that she even found some of her turquoise pieces on my shopping blog!

Paula shopped for her home at several places and pulled everything together herself, but did have some help from Beth Malmberg of Vujovich Design Build when it came to picking out tiles, cabinets, paint, etc. Speaking of which, I just love all the colors–the blue in the kitchen cabinets and the striped stair runner are my favorite touches! Renée Gaddis Interiors

This Naples, Florida cottage designed by Renée Gaddis Interiors is coastal casual at its finest, and I wish it were mine! I cannot get enough of the layers of texture and beachy colors, not to mention great accessories everywhere. It all feels so cozy and comfy! The bedroom with the four-poster bed is is especially dreamy! And how about the laid-back guest house in the last two pics? I'd be more than happy just to live there! K Mathiesen Brown Design

We're spicing things up today! Creating a beautiful and fun place to live is the design philosophy of K Mathiesen Brown Design–an Orange County, California interior design and home styling team made up of two sisters, Kristina and Karen. This family-friendly home photographed by Lancaster Photographics is full of energy, great color and pattern, and unique spaces I want in own home! I especially love that breakfast nook with the bench covered in Trina Turk indoor/outdoor fabric and the fun loft in the kids' room! Christine Markatos Design

So much beauty!! The portfolio of Santa Monica interior designer Christine Markatos Lowe is downright stunning. I absolutely love the fresh mixture of pattern, color and texture in her elegant style! That first image of the stairway with the chevron-wallpapered bathroom feels so ethereal, it seriously takes me away. Love that comfy outdoor lounge area too with the piles of pillows! I really love all the rooms though. A little rustic, but just so, so pretty!! There's lots more where this came from, so head here next!

Historical Concepts

The River Dunes community in Oriental, North Carolina is home to some of the cutest homes I've seen, it's no wonder Coastal Living chose the area for their Idea House back in 2007. Historical Concepts designed the traditional, coastal style home photographed here by Jean Allsopp, and I have to say I love every square inch! You may recognize some of the interiors; they were designed by Tammy Connor–one of my favorite designers! Love the big porches, grand staircase and salvaged wood floors, not to mention the color palette and coastal touches throughout...especially the collection of bottles in the breakfast room! I think that may be the cutest refrigerator I've ever seen too! See more pics and even buy the house plan here!

But wait, there's more! Just adjacent to this Captain's House is a small enclave of super cute cottages called the Crew’s Cottages, also designed by Historical Concepts. The six charming homes shown below in photos by Richard Leo Johnson/Atlantic Archives, Inc. are grouped around a central courtyard have the vibe of a historic East Coast waterfront village. Each one has it's own unique look, but all share a more simple coastal style that I am loving!












Sadly a couple of years ago the incredible Idea House burned down. Fortunately though the little Crew's Cabins were saved from the fire, and today visitors to the area can even rent them out!
