Historical Concepts

Not only is this cottage totally adorable, it's steeped in history! The marshfront cottage was built by Henry Ford around 1930 and is located on the Ford Plantation (which is now a private sporting club) near Savannah, Georgia. The old building was supposed to be torn down, but new owners loved the history and the charming bones so much that they enlisted Jim Strickland of the architectural firm Historical Concepts to save the home! Wouldn't you love to live here?? The beautiful view, all those live oak trees, and a delightful interior oozing with character and history?! Amanda Nisbet Design

Amanda Nisbet is one of the very first designers I ever learned about and immediately loved. Can you see why?! Her extensive portfolio is so colorful and so fresh that it leaves me practically speechless! Her genius blend of color, pattern and texture make for some incredibly elegant, fun and daring interiors. Not to mention totally livable and comfortable! This hardly puts a dent it in, you must head to her site to see lots more of her incredible designs!

Amanda also recently published her very first book, Dazzling Design. Definitely one for our wish lists this year!

Phoebe Howard

I am back from my vacation down South–rejuvenated from the beach and inspired by all that I saw! I took so many photos, but I need to get them on the computer and organized before I can share some with y'all!

One of the last places we stopped on our trip was Phoebe Howard's store in Atlanta. I'm a die-hard fan of her work, so it was a must-see while I was in the area. I can't wait to share with you some photos! Until then, I thought you'd adore this recent client project from her website. The look is so beautiful and elegant, but inviting and comfortable too! And talk about serene–the colors here are amazing! All of the light flowing in those fab windows certainly doesn't hurt either! Historical Concepts - Day Two

A slice of heaven, right there in Palmetto Bluff!! Today we're finishing our tour of this incredible South Carolina home designed by Historical Concepts, an architecture firm specializing in traditional and vernacular design. I can't decide what I'd prefer... the breezy porch with the swinging bed and fireplace, or the attic bunkroom with the cozy curtained bed niche! All just so darn delightful! Barclay Butera Interiors

If you love the seaside as much as I do, you'll love the work of Barclay Butera. These photographs taken by Mark Lohman are all from his new book, Living on the Coast. Lots of sand and sea color palettes combined with great natural (and durable!) fabrics and textures. I cannot express how much I love that first living room...the colors, fabrics, textures, seriously everything there is just so up my alley! That top bedroom too, I'd take that in a heartbeat! Cool Custom Bunk Room

This space designed by Platt Byard Dovell White Architects and designer Tracy Bross is out of this world cool, when I saw it on Table Tonic I knew you guys would love it too. The room (photographed by Jonathan Wallen) is actually featured in the new book Room for Children: Stylish Spaces for Sleep and Play by Susanna Sulk, a compilation of over 100 stylish interiors ranging from nursery to teen. What kid wouldn't want to spend a night or two in this bunkroom, tucked away in their own private hideaway? And I don't know about you, but I love that turquoise and orange!!!

Romantic Cottage Bathroom

I love me some rustic charm, and this cottage bathroom doesn't disappoint! The 13' peaked ceiling and exposed support structure both painted white?! Hea-ven-ly. But most of all I love that painted floor (Benjamin Moore - Stormy Monday 2112-50 semigloss). Featured in Canadian House and Home (check out the gallery dedicated to white cottages!) this bathroom was also included in the book Pottery Barn Bathrooms. I haven't looked through it in person, but the teaser images on Amazon were enough to make me add it to my wish list. Hello, 87 used & new from $1.48!
